I hope you have been well and have been taking this peculiar time to care for yourself. So sorry it’s been a while since you last heard from me. There has been a huge amount of upheaval for me in my business and personal life. I’m sure that your experience hasn’t been much different.
First if I may share something incredibly personal. The past 2 years my father has been fighting kidney cancer/failure and in the beginning of April he unfortunately lost that battle. My father was a huge part of my life and had a big robust Italian personality. Our world is definitely much more boring and quiet with out him here. He was a great guy, a family man and spoiled me and my brother rotten. This May would have been 40 years that my parents were married and an extra sting is that he never got to meet my brothers baby that is making his debut in October. Although I am grateful to this pandemic to be able to have the time to process and grieve, it was difficult not being able to lay him to rest and not having the comfort of being with my family in this crazy time. As a little time has passed and I’ve had the space to process, I’m doing ok. Being in India this past winter has equipped me with the tools to meet this head on. I believe he is in a much better place and for that I am relived that he’s not suffering.
Second, as you very well know, Mudita and Sunshine Kate’s have been closed since March 15th. Just like every small business, not being able to operate has been financially taxing. Paying for a space and not having people come through the door obviously leaves us just bleeding money. Unfortunately in March we closed the Wanamassa space. If it wasn’t for the pandemic, I would have been able to take the space over myself but this whole situation is a little precarious to sign a 2 year a lease. The landlord wasn’t too forgiving and it was the right move because here we are in the middle of June. Hopefully the future includes Kate and I collaborating in some way. Right now she is focusing on virtual offerings. Check her website to see how she can be of service to you.
So, where do we go from here?!
As of right now, I do NOT have a space to work in. This is a temporary situation. One of my passions is to create a space that is nourishing, healing, provides you an oasis from the stresses of your life and inspires you to live your best life. I also love to decorate, so there’s that haha. I do plan at some point to have another space, hopefully soon, that will be in either Monmmouth or Ocean county. Please sign up for my newsletter if you are not signed up so you can be in the loop for when I open a new studio.
